Background

30+ Years at the Intersection of Care and Leadership

I lead, fix and scale service organisations across aged care, NDIS disability services and community health. My core strengths are clinical governance, quality and safety, risk and compliance, and building operating models that hold up under real-world pressure — not just in PowerPoint. I translate between boards and executives, frontline teams, regulators, families and partners to get clarity, alignment and measurable results.

I also drive innovation and digital transformation — systems, data, tech-enabled care, redesign — where it genuinely improves care outcomes, efficiency and client choice, without compromising rights or quality. I'm particularly motivated by improving access and outcomes for regional, rural and remote communities.

As CEO and Managing Director of SMPLS Innovation, I lead a healthcare innovation and transformation consultancy that works with providers across Australia and the APAC region. As Chairman of Beata Homecare, I provide governance oversight across quality, risk, compliance and performance.

I travel regularly to international conferences and exhibitions, actively bringing new healthcare technology to the APAC market and building partnerships with global innovators.

Core Domains

Areas of Expertise

Healthcare & Aged Care Operations

Multi-site performance, occupancy, admissions pathways, workforce models, rostering, incidents, audits and continuous improvement. Building scalable SOPs, governance cadence, KPI dashboards and accountability frameworks that hold up under real-world pressure.

Clinical Governance & Quality

Strengthening governance through committees, delegations, policies, clinical indicators, audits, open disclosure, complaints and risk registers. Aligned to Australian aged care and NDIS expectations — compliance is the baseline, not the goal.

Dementia & Behaviours Management

Trauma-informed dementia care, environmental design, family engagement and behaviour support planning. Prioritising least restrictive practice and reducing restraint via capability uplift, monitoring and proactive models.

Technology, Digital Health & Cybersecurity

Translating between clinical, operational and technical stakeholders. ERP/CRM, clinical systems, data governance, privacy, cyber risk, interoperability and implementation/change management. Simple architectures and adoption-first designs.

How I Work

Operating Principles

Person-centred and rights-based: Dignity, choice, independence, safeguarding and least restrictive practice are non-negotiable in every engagement.
Governance-grade thinking: Quality standards, regulatory obligations, clinical risk, information security and reputational risk are always in scope.
Operational realism: Recommendations must work at site level with real staffing, budgets and constraints — not just on paper.
Evidence-led: Data, benchmarks and clear logic. No buzzwords unless translating for the audience. McKinsey-level rigour.
Direct, warm and structured: I make assumptions explicit, propose 2–3 pathways with trade-offs and risks, and never stall waiting for perfect information.
